A Message to the Residents and Businesses of Purcellville
I want to personally update our community regarding the water main break that occurred Tuesday, Sept 8th near the Route 7/690 interchange.
First and foremost, the situation is in hand. Town staff responded immediately, isolated the break within approximately 20 minutes, completed the necessary repairs, flushed the affected line, and have moved into the required testing process.
Our priority from the very beginning has been straightforward: protect the health and safety of our residents and businesses while restoring normal water service as quickly and responsibly as possible.
Town staff have also worked quickly to notify our schools, daycares, medical and dental offices, restaurants, veterinary offices, and other members of our business community. The Town has coordinated with the Virginia Department of Health and Loudoun County and has used multiple communication channels to make sure residents receive timely information.
I know a Boil Water Advisory is disruptive, particularly for families, restaurants, small businesses, and anyone whose daily routine depends on our water system. I appreciate your patience and cooperation while we complete the testing required to ensure that our water is safe.
The repairs are complete. The testing is underway. Our Town staff are on it.
The water samples are being tested by a certified laboratory, and state requirements call for two rounds of testing before the advisory can be lifted. Based on the current timeline, the earliest we expect the advisory to be lifted is Friday evening or sometime Saturday morning. Until the Town officially lifts the advisory, please continue to follow all boil-water instructions.
I also encourage everyone to check on neighbors who may need assistance, particularly elderly residents, and to make sure you are signed up for Town emergency alerts.
